Between a World Cup watch party, an outdoor screening of The Lion King, and summer concerts filling up local parks, Lamorinda is officially settling into summer mode. This is Lamorinda Life.

I'm Rajiv, and every week I share a curated look at what's worth checking out around Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda.
0:19
This week we've got outdoor movies, live music, a best-selling author visiting Lafayette, a World Cup watch party, and a few community events that are worth putting on your calendar. Let's get into it.
0:31
Thursday is packed with good options. Thursday Nights in Orinda is back this week with food trucks and an outdoor screening of The Lion King.
0:40
These Thursday evenings are quickly becoming one of the best excuses to spend a summer night outside. Grab dinner, find a spot on the lawn, and enjoy a movie under the stars with a few hundred of your neighbors.
0:52
If you're looking for live music, head over to Moraga Commons for the summer concert series.
0:57
This has been a local tradition for more than forty years, and it's one of those events that reminds you how much people here enjoy gathering outdoors.
1:06
Bring a lawn chair, grab something to eat, and settle in for a relaxed evening. This week's band is Sun Kings, putting a reggae spin on Beatles classics.
1:15
And if books are more your thing, best-selling author Lisa See is coming to the Lafayette Library for a special event celebrating her new novel.
1:24
These distinguished speaker series events consistently bring fascinating guests to town, and it's pretty remarkable to have an author of her caliber speaking right here in Lafayette.
1:34
Friday brings something a little different. The US Men's National Team takes on Paraguay, and local soccer fans have a few ways to watch.
1:42
The Orinda Soccer Community is hosting a watch party at the Orinda Community Center, which should be a fun gathering of players, coaches, families, and fans.
1:50
What's nice about events like this is that they're less about the screen and more about the people around you. It's a chance to share the experience with neighbors who are just as invested in the match.
2:01
If you'd rather watch from a restaurant or brewery, The Hideout Kitchen, Fourth Bore, and Headlands Brewing are all good options.
2:09
Also on Friday, Lafayette's Rock the Plaza series continues downtown with the Kyle Athayde Dance Party. These concerts have become one of the best ways to spend a summer Friday in Lafayette.
2:21
Restaurants are busy, people spill out into the plaza, and there's always a mix of families, couples, and friends hanging around before and after the music starts.
2:31
If you're looking for something that feels distinctly Lafayette, this is it. Saturday is a little quieter, but one event that caught my eye is the Youth Music Expo at Moraga Commons.
2:42
It's exactly the kind of community event that tends to over-deliver. Young musicians performing, local families gathering, barbecue, and a chance to support students while spending an afternoon outside.
2:54
Sometimes the smaller events end up being the most memorable. Sunday has a couple of interesting options. Local Vines continues its Meet the Maker series, which is quietly becoming a nice Sunday tradition in Lafayette.
3:07
This week features Thal Vineyards, and the format is simple. Great wine, the people who make it, and plenty of opportunity to ask questions and hear the stories behind the bottles.
3:18
If you're interested in wine but don't love crowded festivals, it's a much more personal experience. Also on Sunday is the second annual Queer Faith Festival.
3:26
It brings together LGBTQ plus individuals, faith communities, families, and allies for an afternoon focused on community and connection.
3:36
It's a unique event and a reminder of the many different communities that make up Lamorinda. One thing I wanted to call out this week isn't a single event. It's the fact that summer is starting to feel real.
3:48
Thursday nights are filling up. Concert series are underway. Farmers markets are busy. People are lingering outside a little longer in the evenings.
3:57
There's always a week when the season seems to shift, and this feels like one of those weeks. A few quick hits before we wrap up. The Orinda Farmer's Market is Saturday morning.
4:06
The Moraga Farmer's Market is Sunday morning. And if you've been thinking about joining Lamorinda Dinner Club, registration closes this Sunday for next week's dinner in Lafayette.
4:16
We've already got more than twenty people signed up. That's it for this week. If any of these events sound interesting, get out and check them out.
4:24
One of the best things about living in Lamorinda is that you don't have to go very far to find something worthwhile.
4:29
And if you want the full list of events, local news, and community happenings each week, you can always find it in the Lamorinda Life newsletter. Thanks for listening, and I'll see you around town.
